Guide to slipped & bulging disc injury claims
Whether it’s something that’s developed at work over time or as the result of an accident, a Bulging or Slipped Disc injury can be excruciating, debilitating and frustratingly slow to treat.
If you’re suffering from a Slipped or Bulging Disc, explore this guide to find out whether you’re eligible for compensation and to see what you could claim.
What is a Slipped Disc vs. a Bulging Disc?
Also known as a Herniated or Ruptured Disc, a Slipped Disc injury is a tear or rupture to one of the rubbery, gel-filled cushions that sit between the 23 vertebrae of your spine. Common causes include falls, the incorrect lifting of heavy objects in the workplace and car crash impact.
In contrast, a Bulging Disc is a disc flattened between vertebrae that bulges out to one side of your spinal column. Pain can be felt all through the body including the neck, shoulder, chest, arm, fingers, lower back, buttocks, legs and feet.
Am I eligible for compensation for my injury?
Suffering a Slipped Disc and Bulging Disc injury can have a huge impact on your day to day life. If you sustained your back injury under circumstances that were out of your control and due to the negligence of a third party, and your ability to return to normal life and work after the incident has been affected, you are likely to be eligible for compensation.
What compensation could my disc injury entitle me to?
The amount of compensation you might receive for a Bulging Disc or Slipped Disc injury depends on a wide variety of factors:
- Your age
- How responsible you were (either fully or partly) for the accident
- The severity of your injuries
- The financial impacts such as lost income, the medical expenses you’ve incurred for your treatment, surgery and ongoing rehabilitation, and the cost of any care or help you’ve needed access to at home and to help you return to work.
We can evaluate the incident and your circumstances and let you know which benefits you’re entitled to claim as a result.
