Susan Wood

I joined LHD Lawyers in 2021 with aspirations to run a quality motor vehicle and public liability practice.  I first entered the legal field with a Bachelor of Legal Studies in 2004 commencing as a Paralegal.  After 8 years I wanted a more hands-on experience with claimants as felt I had a lot more to offer so I completed a Juris Doctor in 2011 and was later admitted to the Supreme Court of Western Australia in 2012.

Having worked up the ranks from a paralegal to my current role as an associate I am not a stranger to the hard work and dedication that it takes to achieve a successful outcome.

During my career, I have had acted in a vast range of cases from whiplash injuries to catastrophic claims rendering claimants as quadriplegics.  I have worked through all areas of compensation including superannuation, TPD, criminal injuries compensation, workers compensation however my practice now focuses on motor vehicle accidents and public liability claims.

I have been fortunate to work with some of the most respected Senior Counsel from around the country and have prepared matters in many courts and tribunals including District Court, Supreme Court, Supreme Court Court of Appeal and special leave applications to the High Court of Australia.

It is truly gratifying to be able to make a positive difference to someone when they have suffered an unfortunate injury.  My favourite part of my job is seeing the smile or the tears of joy from the client and their family when they accept a settlement offer or successfully win their case.  It is a real privilege to be part of such an emotional experience.

LHD Lawyers is a very well respected national law firm who don’t shy away from the remote cases.  I enjoy being able to travel to the more remote parts of Western Australia allowing me to connect with the clients in their own surroundings and inspect first hand the accident sites.  The dedication of LHD Lawyers to their clients is second to none and I am proud to be part of the team.
