Hugo was admitted to practise in 1998 having previously worked in the legal industry as a Paralegal and Practice Manager. Hugo qualified and worked as a commercial and residential property valuer before deciding to enter the law. 

Before recently joining LHD Lawyers as Special Counsel, Hugo was Special Counsel at Mills Oakley in the Sydney Private Advisory and Family Law Teams for over 4 years. Prior to then he was a Family Law Partner of Paul & Paul Lawyers for some 10 years.

He currently heads the Wills and Estates Group of LHD's Sydney Office and has substantial experience in Wills and Estates, contested Probate and Succession Act (Family Provision Claims) and Succession Planning. He also has extensive experience in the area of Family Law (Property settlement and Parenting disputes, De Facto relationships and Alternative Dispute Resolution).

Hugo has extensive litigation and advocacy experience.

Hugo has recently completed the Graduate Diploma of Applied Corporate Governance course through the Governance Institute of Australia (formerly Chartered Secretaries Australia). He is an Associate member of the Governance Institute of Australia (AGIA), and an Associate of the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators (ACIS).

Hugo is also an Accredited Collaborative Lawyer. He has served on the New South Wales Young Lawyers Family Law Committee and is a member of the Law Society of New South Wales and the Family Law Section of the Law Council of Australia. Hugo currently holds an Unrestricted NSW Practising Certificate.”
