Monsanto Class Action now underway in the Federal Court
The first Directions Hearing in the class action against Monsanto Australia was held in the Federal Court before His Honour Justice Lee on 19 December 2019.
The Applicant and group members were represented by counsel, instructed by LHD Lawyers. The Respondent, Monsanto Australia, was also represented by counsel instructed by solicitors from Herbert Smith Freehills.
The purpose of the Directions Hearing was to bring the matter before the Court, to enable discussion between the parties and the Court with respect to general case management issues, and to allow his Honour to make ‘directions’ to the parties in order to move the matter forward. The matter has now been set down for further Directions on 13 February 2020.
Overall, LHD Lawyers achieved a number of positive outcomes from the initial Directions, including that the matter will now move into Case Management Directions before His Honour, allowing the case to start taking shape with respect to the further preparation of the liability case.
LHD Lawyers are still accepting registrants from those who have suffered from exposure to Roundup and wish to participate in the case at https://www.lhd.com.au/roundup-class-action/
